The Course

Loosely based on the now-defunct ICELT, our graduate program is a 3-module course designed to prepare new teachers for the reality of the classroom.

Module 1 : Foundations of ELT Methodology

The first module - with a recommended 80 hours spent on content - sees participants complete an extensive online course which helps them develop their language awareness skills, prepare to take the TKT exam, and complete 4 pieces of lesson planning coursework. The research and planning sklls developed will be activated in the face to face component of the course which follows.

Module 1b : Online Teaching Practicum

To help apply some of the concepts learnt during the first module, participants are invited to participate in 10 hours of online lessons with guinea pig learners. The teachers are given a structured procedure to conduct needs analyses, plan a small course, and ask for constructive feedback. At the end of the practicum, the teacher is expected to write a reflective task.

Module 2 : Foundations of Teaching Practice

The 2nd module sees learners apply the theory they had learnt in a very intensive 40 hour face to face course. Each day sees participants take part in 3 highly practical workshops, which informs the guided lesson planning time, which in turn lays the basis of the live observed teaching practice. Participants teach an average of 30 minutes every evening in a high pressure environment, and receive detailed feedback. Participants also observe their peers and attempt to give constructive feedback, too.

Module 3 : Teaching Placement & Extending Professional Practice

After the course, the interns have a small break before working with a partner school anywhere in Poland for a minimum of 1 semester. The teachers during this time have access to a wealth of support and materials, and are also expected to produce a piece of coursework every month.
